JOB TITLE:
CNC Machinist

JOB SUMMARY
Sets up and operates Boring Mills to face, bore, bevel and countersink a variety of surfaces.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Operate designated machine safely and competently, ensuring that all HSE and housekeeping standards are maintained
• Studies blueprints or layout on work piece to determine sequence of operations and finished dimensions of work piece
• Makes setups and adjustments to assure proper alignment of parts
• Lifts, positions, and secures work piece on machine table
• Operates boring equipment by selecting feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, and milling cutter and monitoring operations
• Checks and inspects work for conformity to specifications using precision measuring instruments
• Edits CNC programming as directed or required
• Reports discrepancies in job route times as soon as they are identified. Communicates them to the Team Lead and/or Manager and implements changes when requested
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition
• Able to work overtime (if applicable) including weekends to accomplish business needs
• Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Machining certificate from college or technical school
• Three to five years related experience and/or training
• Equivalent combination of education and experience

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to read blueprints
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
• Ability to use lathes, milling machines, sharpeners and/or grinders

• Standing 6 to 8 hours daily

• Repetitive Movement (shoveling/sweeping/fastening) 6 to 8 hours daily
• Lifting (weights up to 50 lbs.) regularly
• Push/Pull 6 to 8 hours daily
• Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties as required
• Ability to learn technical repair and machining guidelines and procedures
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
